Beyond expectations: Further GCSE success at Duke of Kent School

Duke of Kent School’s Year 11 pupils exceeded expectations in their GCSE results, achieving an average of nearly one grade above the predictions based on their CAT4 assessments.

This progress was a particular source of pride for our non-selective school. It reflected our pupils’ hard work and ambition, alongside the individual support and encouragement that helped them make the most of their abilities.

High achievement extended across the year group: 87% of pupils secured at least one grade 7 or above, while over 70% of all GCSE grades were at 9–6 and 42% were at 9–7.

English Language results were especially strong, with every pupil achieving grade 5 or above and 54% securing grades 9–7. In Mathematics, 65% achieved grades 9–7, with an average grade of almost 7. There was also much to celebrate in Modern Foreign Languages: half of Spanish grades were at 9–7, while every French candidate achieved grade 8 or 9.

Behind these figures were individual successes, challenges overcome and years of dedication and perseverance. We congratulate every pupil and thank the staff and families whose care and encouragement had supported them along the way.

These achievements strongly reflect our nurturing school community where kindness, encouragement and mutual respect underpin academic ambition. Pupils are supported to persevere through challenges, take responsibility for their learning and recognise the value of sustained effort, building confidence in themselves as well as pride in their results.

As our Year 11 pupils took their next steps, they left with much to be proud of and our warmest wishes for the future. They will always be part of the Duke of Kent community.
