Inspiring creativity and confident self-expression

At Duke of Kent School, we believe that creativity is an essential part of every child's education. Art encourages children to explore ideas, solve problems and express themselves with confidence, helping to develop imagination, resilience and a lifelong appreciation of the creative world.

In our Pre-prep, art is about the creative journey as much as the finished piece. Rather than encouraging every child to produce the same outcome, we celebrate individuality, giving pupils the confidence to experiment, make discoveries and take pride in creating artwork that is uniquely their own.

From Nursery onwards, creativity is woven into everyday learning. Children paint, draw, sculpt and create using a wide variety of materials both in the classroom and outdoors. Whether making natural sculptures during Forest School, drawing with chalk in the playground or exploring colour and texture through hands-on activities, every child is encouraged to develop their imagination through meaningful creative experiences.
