Known. Heard. Supported.
At Duke of Kent School, wellbeing starts with knowing every child.
Our staff build strong relationships with pupils and quickly notice when someone may need extra support. We believe children thrive when they feel heard, understood and confident that there is always someone they can talk to.
Wellbeing is part of everyday school life, supported by:
- strong pastoral relationships across the School
- one-to-one counselling for pupils from Years 1–11
- Open Door sessions with our School Counsellor
- a dedicated Wellbeing Room offering a calm and supportive space
- peer mentors to help pupils joining the School
- talks and resources around topics including anxiety, exam stress and emotional resilience
- opportunities for walking therapy within our extensive grounds
- time with Dixie, our therapy dog, offering pupils comfort, companionship and a calming presence
Our aim is not simply to support pupils when something is wrong, but to help them understand their emotions, develop resilience and learn when and how to ask for help.
Because when children feel safe, supported and comfortable being themselves, they are in the best position to learn, grow and flourish.
