CHRISTMAS 2020

Christmas was a virtual one in 2020, but we still held our usual celebrations.

With no chance of an audience or congregation attending our usual Christmas festivities we went online with everything!

On Friday 4th December we held our annual Prep School Christmas Concert.  Of course it was not the usual format but, thanks to the wonders of technology, we were able to live stream pre-recorded videos that the performers had made in school during the Autumn Term. Hosting from Old Hall around a roaring fire, the Prep Form Teachers each introduced the children from their forms who were performing, and we were also treated to the Junior Choir's rendition of 'Ding Dong Merrily on High' and the entire school, outside, singing 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' - a rare treat!

On Wednesday 9th December we held our first ever virtual Carol Service, live from St Nicolas Church in Cranleigh. Despite the challenges this presented the event was an enchanting and reflective affair, with a combination of live carols and readings and pre-recorded songs, all streamed from the church.

Finally, our annual Pre-prep Christmas Show became a Green Screen special! An original play called 'The Adventures of the Fizzy Unicorn!' composed and written for the pupils by our Head of Music Mr Rye, was learnt and rehearsed during the term and then each form filmed their sections at school. The final video was then edited into a wonderfully whacky and alternative Christmas story and made available in the holidays for the children.
