Olympian and past pupil Josh Bruyns
Next stop, LA 2028!
We were incredibly lucky to welcome Josh Bruyns, ex-pupil, back to Duke of Kent School for a wonderfully inspirational assembly about his amazing journey to the Olympics as a Speed Climber! Josh gave a brilliant message to our pupils about showing great dedication to both his sport and his studies and embracing opportunities.
Josh was a pupil at Duke of Kent School from 2016-2019. He started climbing when he was 11 years old at a local climbing wall and has continued to follow his passion into his early adult years. He is currently studying Economics and MFL at Warwick University alongside his climbing training. He has been on the international circuit for Speed Climbing for a few years and qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games to represent South Africa! Josh showed the students some brilliant pictures from his Olympic experiences and told us all some fascinating insights into life in the Olympic village!
After the assembly, our Senior Sport Scholars had a chance to ask some more questions and see Josh's pin collection from the Olympic Games. Josh, thank you so much for giving up your time to come into School to inspire our pupils - we so appreciate it. We are wishing Josh all the best with his next competitions and look forward to hopefully seeing him at the Olympics in LA in 2028!
