GCSE Results 2018

The Year 11 pupils of 2018 celebrated a wonderful set of GCSE and IGCSE results this summer.

It was fantastic to see that 52% of our results were Grades 7 / 8 / 9 (the equivalent of A or A*), a tremendous accomplishment for our inclusive school, particularly considering the recent major changes to the qualifications. Another impressive statistic is that 97% of our students have achieved the benchmark of 5 GCSE passes including IGCSE English Language and Maths.

There were some phenomenal individual performances with four pupils managing to gain an average grade of above Grade 8 in their results. Nevertheless, we are equally proud of all the pupils who have worked tirelessly during their school career to achieve the grades they deserve. There is a collection of hard fought Grade 4s (C) that we are celebrating with just as much enthusiasm.

Particular highlights include Physics (80% Grades 7/8/9), French, Geography, Chemistry and Biology (all with 60% Grades 7/8/9), Maths (58% Grades 7/8/9) and English Language (58% Grades 7/8/9). 50% of our Art students achieved a grade 8 or 9.

This Year 11 made the most of every opportunity at Duke of Kent and showed what an inspirational group of young people they are. Their resourcefulness, dynamism, kindness and tenacity leave a lasting legacy and it is wonderful to see them achieving their goals. They have worked hard at their learning and their friendships, and it has been a real pleasure for staff to see the amazing transformations that have taken place through sheer hard work and dedication.
