It was super to welcome Year 4 back this week. The children worked incredibly hard and it was lovely to see them rekindling their friendships. Next week, we look forward to seeing Year 5 back in school and their teachers have a busy week planned for them. Year 10 are heading into their exam week followed by a feedback week. We are also running a week of lessons during the first week of the holidays for Year 10 so they have time with their teachers in the practical subjects of DT, Art, PE, Music, Drama. We were spoiled by our chef, Kim, today with a most delicious strawberry and cream cake. Just what we needed! Finally, don’t forget to join us for the live streaming of the Summer Concert at 6pm tomorrow. It will be magical, I know. Have a lovely weekend.
Early on Wednesday morning, Ariane, Ruby and Violetta, who have all been making fantastic progress in the Swahili Challenge, joined Miss Francis, Mr and Mrs Hubbard and six girls from Morogoro International School on Zoom. Despite both rural Surrey and Tanzania regularly being plagued by internet inconsistencies, the technology fairies were on our side, and the meeting went without a hitch! The DoK girls introduced themselves beautifully and bravely in Swahili and together we worked out what the MIS girls were asking us, Violetta even managing to answer in Swahili! The girls shared their different experiences of life in lockdown and we found out it's currently hotter in England than in Tanzania! What an amazing way to start our day, re-connecting with our partner school, and how small and convivial our world can seem thanks to technology

Prep and Pre-prep News
This week we have welcomed Year 2 and Year 4 back to School, and the sunshine made a welcome return too! Miss Able and Mrs Nicholson have been hugely impressed with how quickly the children adapted to the new rules and new classrooms, but the chatter, the smiles, the effort and the progress have all been much more familiar!
Those remote learning have continued to produce some lovely work. You can see what Sam R and Isabelle S got up to on No Screen Day if you visit the Prep School Google Classroom, and there have been several wonderful mock-umentaries created in the style of Sir David Attenborough as Y5 have been continuing their work on life-cycles in Science. In fact, Y5 can look forward to not only returning to School next week, but also a Conservation Day on Thursday. We look forward to welcoming them back on Monday and hope you all enjoy a restful weekend in the meantime.
Value awards for this week are:
Effort - Jake L, Henry C, Oscar H, Phoebe A, Auberon P and Tom S
Kindness - Daisy R and Patrick W
Respect - Chester S

Duke of Kent School Album - Vol III
The school's charity committee have decided that the DoK School Album Vol III will raise money for the charity Music for All. The Music For All Charity believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn to play music. But not enough people are fortunate enough to have access to musical instruments or ways to help them to learn and discover. This is where they come in. The album will be available before the end of term, featuring musicians from across the school and it will be downloadable via the school website with a link to a Justgiving page for Music for All.
This week we meet the Fizz Rabbits. Dapper bunnies that like to get dressed up for tea...
The Fizz Rabbits are rather dapper . Come and learn what to say (and sing) when you meet them!
Google have recently announced plans to delete data kept on their users, such as search histories and YouTube videos watched. Search activity will only now be kept for 18 months, and YouTube histories for 36 months. Google have long claimed that keeping user data indefinitely was essential to provide personalised services for its customers, but have now changed in order to promote data security. Google do currently offer a delete data function, but this has to be opted into and is not initiated by the company.
If you are cautious of the amount of information Google knows about you then I would definitely look into this option instead of waiting for Google to start its new policy. I will link an article telling you how below.
