U15.16 v. Frensham Heights
On Tuesday the U15/16 Netball team faced Frensham Heights away. The first quarter was a slightly scrappy but after a team talk at the end of the quarter the team found their flow and settled. There was great defending from Kora W (GK), Jas K (GD) and Zoe L (WD), the girls worked so hard to close down space and really put the pressure on. At half-time, the score was 11-11.
In the second half, the girls found a new lease of life and their determination to win was clear. Aoife W (WA) was throwing exceptionally accurate balls into our shooters Maddie I (GA), Amber C/Audrey W (GS) and the success rate was high and with Macy B always offering on the circle meant that they could work the ball in and out of the circle to get in the perfect position to shoot. Imogen C (GK) turned the ball over copious amounts in the final quarter which helped the team cross the finish line with a superb 22-16 win. Well done to the whole team, you all played so well, and it was a great example of tenacity and determination.

Hockey: U13 A v. Belmont
On Wednesday afternoon, the U13A girls Hockey team welcomed Belmont to our Wilsons' Pitch for their match. With some drizzle still in the air, the girls got warmed up with great enthusiasm and began preparing for their game. The game started at a high tempo and this continued throughout the afternoon! Both teams worked tirelessly, always tracking back to help the team and attacking with great determination. Sydney R found her position when playing in defence, her brilliantly powerful hit helped us to get the ball out wide to our players when taking a free hit or 16. Alongside Sydney in defence, Belles H and Matilda R made countless tackles at important moments in the game. Duke of Kent School took the lead with a great goal by Niamh A but Belmont came back fighting and scored within minutes to level the match at 1-1. As the game went on, the girls began to find their flow and the passes started to come together. The midfield players including Bella S, Isla B, Jess I played some great balls through to the forwards and created many goal scoring opportunities. The game was of great quality and end to end stuff but Duke of Kent School managed to find the next gear and the goals began to flow. The score finished 9-3 to Duke of Kent School. A huge well done to Maggie B in goal, for making multiple important saves and showing great determination. Congratulations to Isla B for being voted girl of the game. Well done to everyone involved for a great afternoon of hockey and thank you members of the B team who stepped up during the afternoon!

Cross Country Competition at Ardingly College

On Monday the U9, U11 and U13 Cross Country team travelled to Ardingly College. The format was a little different to usual. The runners ran in heats trying to reach an A or B final. The distance of each race was shorter than normal, but each runner needed to run twice throughout the afternoon. This took great determination, particularly for the younger runners who found the first race quite daunting. All of the Duke of Kent School team ran to their very best ability and should be proud of their efforts. Ardingly were a little too strong but Duke of Kent School performed well in comparison to the other three schools involved.
This was a worthwhile experience for our runners and it will stand them in good stead for the upcoming ISA London South events next term.
Well done to all who made the school team and thank you to the amazing support from parents.

Football: U16 v. Kingswood House
The U16 football team played Kingswood House at home on Tuesday afternoon. Both teams were very well matched with the game flowing from end to end. An early goal from Ben W put Duke of Kent School ahead. Marcus D scored a second from a tight angle and then repeated the same shot after a great through ball from Ben W. Kingswood House came back into the game with a couple of good strikes but Duke of Kent School finished the match off with Freddie S poaching a goal after it bobbled around the box after a corner. The effort from all of the Duke of Kent School team was fantastic throughout. Well done to all who played.
