G LIVE
We are founder participants of the Rotary Guildford Combined Schools Concert and perform an eclectic and packed set annually at this professional venue in front of an audience of more than 1000 people.
Our award-winning Performing Arts Department brings Drama, Dance and Music together in a powerful alliance. An exceptional range of opportunities, in and beyond the classroom, is open to all. Music, Dance and Drama are taught in every section of the School and Music and Drama are very popular subject options at GCSE. We are immensely proud of our participation levels: more than 80% of pupils participate in Performing Arts above and beyond our extensive curricular provision. Peripatetic instrumental and LAMDA lessons are hugely popular.
With just 325 pupils from 3-16 years, we have a thriving Arts scene: Senior Musical, Years 8 and 9 play, Prep Production, big band, orchestra, five choirs, three vocal groups, instrumental groups (ukulele, guitar, brass, string), rock bands, music tech., songwriting, ballet and lyrical dance clubs, Year 1 cellos, Year 2 violins. At any time of day, pupils can be found practising and rehearsing together, independently, in our Performing Arts Hall.
The Arts Calendar is buzzing: Senior School Musical, Years 8 and 9 play, Prep Christmas Concert, Pre-prep Nativities, Prep Production, Original Works Evening, Carol Concerts, Pre-prep Spring Concert and Dance Show, House Drama, Music Assemblies. House Music sees every Senior and Prep pupil performing with great house spirit and our Senior Choir had a successful tour to Liverpool in March 2022.

We held our fifth ORIGINAL WORKS EVENING last year. It's a great showcase for our Years 9-11 creativity: photography, artwork, poetry, creative writing, songwriting and composition feature. Below you can hear Year 11 pupil Parsons' original song: 'Boys.Girls.Anywhere.'
In March 2020 members of our Senior Choir were due to visit Oslo, Norway to take part in our second Choir trip. Sadly it was popstponed due to COVID-19 but we hope we can run the trip next year instead. You can listen to a performance of Ubi Caritas below, which would have been sung on the trip.
A full range of performance opportunities is on offer for every pupil at school.
