LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

During Lockdown 2.0  we still managed to produce and film a Year 11 production of 'Little Shop of Horrors'!

Forced to reduce our annual full scale senior musical to no more than a cast of 15 we knew that we had to create something for Year 11 that they would remember as being a positive experience in a severely affected year. So we decided to make a filmed version of the brilliant and bonkers musical 'Little Shop of Horrors'.

It was a fascinating and educational experience for us all. The goalposts shifted regularly and we found ourselves having to adapt to the changing times. The maturity of the Year 11 cast was exceptional - from start to finish they  accepted the enforced changes with patience and understanding and their work ethic and maturity was exemplary.

Filmed over a weekend in late November 2020 with a socially distanced live band, four 4K video cameras and Performing Arts staff on hand to assist, the  weekend of filming was the icing on the cake. The young cast were focused and so professional, waiting until they were called to set and then performing with energy and  skill to basically an empty theatre. To say we were proud of them was an understatement - they  excelled themselves beyond all expectation and it is an experience we will all now treasure.

The final film was then livestreamed early in the Spring Term to pupils and parents at home and it provided a wonderful and uplifting start to another locked down term!
