Ski Trip 2017 - Passo Tonale
Saturday - Wednesday
The Journey from School to Italy
Our journey started at 4 o’clock on a starlit morning. With ski bags full of enthusiasm we made our way to Gatwick. Our bright eyed and bushy tailed entourage made it swiftly through check-in and on to security where Zoe L's yoghurt was treated with great suspicion and impounded...
Breakfast and lunch purchased and everyone accounted for, we made our way on to our plane where everyone treated our excited party with remarkable magnanimity. The children were all a delight and entirely hassle-free... The same cannot be said for Miss Vickers, however, who clearly cannot be trusted with mango juice it transpires...
Our Italian coach driver was very cheerful and the journey up to Passo Tonale flew by. Excitement grew as the first snow was spotted and with every twist in the road the snow deepened. By the time we reached Albergo Sciatori the sky was a brilliant blue, the conditions looked promising and our hotel was as typically dolomitic as we could possibly hope for.

A Trip to the Glacier
On Wednesday the whole group caught the Presena telecabine through steadily more dramatic landscape which rose majestically up to one highest points in Italy, 3069 metres, to survey the awe inspiring views from the Cima Presena Panoram. The pristine blue sky greeted us as the sun's welcoming rays peaked over the mountains. After a group photo skiers of all abilities made a sterling job of descending through some magnificent scenery.

Pizza Night at Miramonte
On Monday night the children were treated to dinner out at a nearby pizzeria; as they say, when in Rome! We’d barely sat down before the pizzas started coming out thick and fast and left us all wishing we had pizza ovens of our own. Despite having to make over 40, they were all delicious and filled the many empty stomachs from a tough day on the slopes in heavy snow. To ensure we were all truly stuffed, we were also given ice cream for dessert. After Mr Seeley had a few difficulties pronouncing the delicious Italian flavours the majority of children were happily devouring two scoops of wonderful ice cream, including the favourite 'Stracciatella' (chocolate chip to us!). A snowy walk back and we were all ready to hit the hay for another day.
Thursday - We're going to be doing the beautiful tree lined run down into Ponte de Legano. The weather is due to be bright and sunny so we're expecting some great shots of everyone skiing and the mountains. In the evening the pupils have the opportunity to do a town trail or go swimming followed by a games night!
Friday - The final day will be a full day of skiing rounded off with the ski awards presented by our fantastic ski instructors over a hot chocolate in our Hotel. If this wasn't exciting enough, in the evening the children, and staff, have the chance to let their hair down in the 'Discoteque' at the magnificent Hotel Miramonte.
Saturday - Home! See you there.
